SAKAI America, Inc. has officially commenced shipping the SV544-1 Series vibratory single drum soil compactor to its dealer network. This latest update to the best-selling 84” SV544 line introduces targeted powertrain enhancements aimed at boosting overall performance and efficiency on the job site.
The primary modification to the SV544-1 is the integration of the Cummins F3.8 Performance Series engine, which now generates 148 horsepower (110 kilowatts). This engine offers a 14% increase in peak horsepower compared to the previous 130 horsepower model at the same rotational speed. Operators will also experience a 23% increase in peak torque, rising from 360 pound-feet to 443 pound-feet, delivered 100 revolutions per minute sooner for improved responsiveness under load. In addition to this power boost, the SV544-1 provides enhanced fuel efficiency by an estimated 8%, with an ECO mode available for further savings. The engine also operates with reduced noise levels and achieves an 8.2% reduction in carbon dioxide emissions by utilizing the proven Cummins Single Module.
"The SV544 has long been our best-selling model, known for its proven SAKAI reliability, ease-of-use, and durability," said Brad Belvin, Manager of Sales and Marketing at SAKAI America. "With the SV544-1, we are improving that legacy by giving contractors more usable power, while simultaneously cutting fuel costs. It’s a practical update designed to support job site efficiency."
To support these mechanical upgrades, SAKAI engineers implemented a simplified ECM harness for improved machine integration, along with other packaging changes. The SV544-1, however, retains the familiar features operators rely on, such as straightforward analog controls that eliminate the need for touch screens or multi-function panels. The machine continues to come standard with user-selectable traction control, a heavy-duty center hitch, and long-life isolators engineered to last up to 5,000 hours.
"We are proud that the SV544-1 is fully assembled in our Georgia, USA factory," said Wes Shepherd, VP of Operations at SAKAI America. "As we prepare to celebrate 50 years in North America and 25 years of local manufacturing here in Adairsville this fall, producing this updated model is a testament to our team's ongoing commitment. We continue to combine legendary Japanese engineering with reliable USA-based assembly and support".
The SAKAI SV544-1 Series is currently shipping to authorized SAKAI dealers. The model line features operating weights starting from 24,405 lbs (11,070 kg) and offers up to 63% (32°) gradeability. Every unit is backed by SAKAI's industry-leading 3-year / 3,000-hour warranty.
