MN $7B Infrastructure Funding Plan Would Not Raise Taxes

Bill includes $4 billion for state roads, $1.4 billion for county roads, and $583 million for municipal roads

The Minnesota House has approved a plan to spend nearly $7 billion over the next 10 years for transportation work. "The Road and Bridge Act of 2015" does not require raising taxes, unlike the Senate's plan that would raise $6 billion for road repairs through new taxes. The House-approved plan relies on existing vehicle-related sales taxes that are deposited into the state's general fund and borrowing $6.6 billion for the state's transportation system.

The bill now moves on to the Senate.
