As industries such as construction and mining work to prevent costly on-site incidents and improve operator awareness, Speedshield has announced the launch of Optix, a cloud-based digital platform that provides a real-time view of every AiVA-equipped asset.
Optix acts as the command center for AiVA, Speedshield’s pedestrian detection system, converting millions of data points into actionable insights. The platform allows fleet managers and safety leaders to track near misses, identify high-risk time periods and analyze operator behavior trends — helping teams address hazards before accidents occur.
Key features include a critical events dashboard for near-miss reporting, a new analytics interface, and guest access for demonstrations or third-party installations. Optix also supports GPS tracking, equipment transfers and on-demand video playback for incident review.
The system’s analytics visualize near-miss data with contextual details such as time of day, vehicle type, and operator activity. Enterprise users can manage multiple sites and user access through centralized tools.
The launch comes amid rising costs tied to workplace accidents involving heavy machinery. Between 2020 and 2024, U.S. businesses reported about 1.2 million injury claims, each resulting in an average of 80 lost workdays. Construction and manufacturing remain among the hardest-hit sectors, where vehicle-related incidents are the leading cause of reported injuries.
By linking AiVA’s real-time detection with cloud-based analytics, Speedshield says Optix aims to make safety management more predictive and data-driven. The platform will roll out to existing customers this month, with general availability expected in November 2025.
