The Airport Asphalt Pavement Technology Program, under the National Asphalt Pavement Association, has converted the Asphalt Paving Handbook into a searchable website and mobile app designed for use in the field, including areas without cell service.

The free platforms provide access to paving guidance, troubleshooting information, interactive checklists and training videos. An AI-powered Handbook Assistant can help users locate information and troubleshoot field issues, while checklists cover plant and roller operations.

The handbook covers roadway and airfield paving topics including materials, mix design, plant production, surface preparation, placement, compaction, joint construction, segregation prevention and quality assurance.

The resources were developed by the Asphalt Institute with the Federal Aviation Administration, Asphalt Pavement Alliance, Federal Highway Administration, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and National Asphalt Pavement Association.
