Wirtgen Unveils Versatile SP 33 Slipform Paver for Complex Concrete Applications

Wirtgen’s new SP 33 slipform paver offers flexible, precise concrete paving with modular design, multiple paving modes and stringless AutoPilot 2.0 control.

Wirtgen Sp 33

Wirtgen has introduced the SP 33, a compact slipform paver designed for monolithic concrete profile construction. Engineered for flexibility, the machine's modular design and adjustable components make it adaptable to a wide variety of jobsite conditions.

The SP 33 features two front crawler units with parallelogram swing legs and a laterally adjustable rear crawler, allowing for zero-clearance paving and increased maneuverability. In offset mode, the machine can handle curb and gutter profiles, rectangular forms, and concrete barriers up to 1.3 meters in height. It is also capable of paving sewer and drainage channel profiles.

For concrete slab work, the SP 33 can pave widths up to 2.2 meters, or up to 2.4 meters when paired with a trimmer. In Crosspave mode, the crawler units rotate 90 degrees, enabling the machine to pave transversely with slab widths up to 3.0 meters. The ability to switch quickly between paving modes enhances the machine’s versatility on site.

A newly developed operating system provides intuitive support across the paver’s three key phases: transport, setup and concrete paving. Each phase features a dedicated visualization layout on the control panel, guiding operators through system setup tasks like crawler positioning, mold attachment and sensor calibration.

To improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions, the SP 33 includes a load-dependent engine management system. This automatically adjusts engine speed to match power requirements, cutting down on fuel use, CO₂ output and noise.

The SP 33 also supports stringless paving through Wirtgen’s AutoPilot 2.0 system. Traditionally reliant on physical stringlines, the paving process is now guided by GNSS signals and optional sensors, enabling faster setup, safer operation, and precise execution of tight curves and complex geometries.
